Evergreens and walnut wood. Not your typical design style thoughts when you think of purchasing a new stand mixer for your kitchen.
But KitchenAid is betting that they’ve whipped up a winning combination in unveiling the latest edition of their design series — a limited edition that comes with a higher price tag — stand mixer for 2024: Evergreen, in an earthy, deep forest green with a lush matte finish.

The colour, though, isn’t the only thing that will make this mixer stand out in your kitchen as it comes with the brand’s first true walnut wood bowl.
KitchenAid’s Design Series stand mixers are said to blur the lines between appliance and art through unique colour, finish and materials. So then the question is why go for this deep, dark colour?
According to the design experts at KitchenAid, it’s all about bringing a touch of Mother Nature into your home.
“Evergreen is all about awakening one’s creative spirit by bringing the wonder of the most powerful and vivid elements of nature into your kitchen space,” said Brittni Pertijs, colour, materials and finish design manager at Whirlpool, which owns the KitchenAid brand.
“The design team was inspired by the concept of nature and how it can calm you via its fresh and revitalizing elements,” said Pertijs. “Plus, we do a lot of interior design trend spotting and we knew consumers’ desire to introduce outdoor elements into the home was growing in popularity. Nature offers a type of clarity and comfort that is very specific, so we wanted to play around with that idea and see how it can translate into the kitchen.”

As for the walnut bowl, which comes with the Evergreen version and is not available for individual purchase, Pertijs said it also stems from the design trends their team saw for 2024, which included biophilic design and haptic textures.
“Biophilic design highlights the art of bringing nature indoors, emphasizing the use of natural materials to provide natural textures and earthy colour tones,” she said. “This can be seen in both the use of wood for the walnut bowl, and the leaf design as well as the deep green colour of the stand mixer.”
The leaf design she is referring to is on the special brass plated hub cover — the opening to attach various KitchenAid attachments — for this design series version.
“Our Design Series stand mixers feature thoughtfully curated and redesigned bowls, hub covers, trim bands and knobs,” added Pertijs. “The walnut bowl for Evergreen was one of the ways we intentionally worked to bring in our consumers favourite part of nature directly to their countertop. In comparison to past KitchenAid bowls, which are made from stainless steel, the Evergreen stand mixer bowl marks the first of its kind from KitchenAid and is made from 100 per cent true walnut wood. The walnut bowl is a five-quart walnut mixing bowl, with a unique wood grain pattern and food-safe finish.”
One thing of note though, unlike practically most stainless steel bowls found on other versions of KitchenAid’s iconic stand mixer, this walnut bowl does not have a handle.
Should you opt for this design series version, with its price tag of $999.99, KitchenAid believes it will work for practically any kitchen out there.
“With its warm neutral tones and natural materials, the Evergreen stand mixer is designed to fit seamlessly into any kitchen,” said Pertijs. “The limited-edition stand mixer would fit just as well in a warm neutral kitchen as it would in a cool toned home, as its natural elements such as plants are staples in any interior design.”
But Pertijs added that the best colours to pair it with would be black and neutral tones, which would allow the deep forest green hue, the walnut wood bowl, and Evergreen’s brass accents to stand out.
Further, green, said Pertijs, has been a trending colour for the past few years but has now transcended from that to become a staple selection.
The Evergreen Design Series stand mixer can be purchased at KitchenAid.ca, Crate and Barrel, and Williams Sonoma.
