Warmer today with cooler days and more wind ahead

Oct 04, 2023Oct 04, 2023

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY-TV) - Temperatures are warmer than what we felt so far this week, but we are still cooler than normal for June.

By the evening hours, breezy, with a west-southwest wind of 15 to 20 MPH decreasing to 5 to 10 MPH after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.

A weather disturbance moving across the region during the upcoming weekend will result in gustier winds and and cooler temperatures.

Below-normal temperatures will continue through the first half of next week before a warming trend pushes readings back to near average by late next week.

Gustier winds will start to pick up Saturday evening and stronger winds will be expected in Imperial County where highest gusts could reach 40 MPH.

Patchy blowing dust will also be likely in the valley, which could make it difficult while behind the wheel.

Gusty and dusty conditions will also be possible again on Sunday evening.

Ongoing releases from Painted Rock Dam continue to travel down the Gila River through Yuma County.

Flood Warning along the Gila River between Painted Rock Dam and the Colorado River still remains in effect until at least June 13th.
